Our client is a defence engineering company conducting a wide variety of activities for the UK MoD and prime contractors across the wider UK and international defence communities. Core business includes: systems and platform integration design and manufacture guided weapon technology and system research in areas such as Ballistic Missile Defence.

Software Engineering Manager to lead the Software Engineering group in support of a major Armoured Fighting Vehicle programme. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the role will encompass full ownership of a software subsystem from system design into integration and acceptance testing.

Successful candidates will be expected to take full ownership of the development and testing of the software product. He/she will provide the strategic lead in this area and to lead others in the programme execution.

The position requires demonstrable leadership skills together with an impressive track record in delivery. The candidate will be an innovative, pragmatic lead software engineer who has significant experience in developing technical, deliverable applications and will have been exposed to all aspects of real-time software system development including customer facing and requirements capture.
Communication with hardware and systems engineering disciplines and an understanding of all aspects of system design are critical.

Prospective candidates will need to demonstrate a proven ability of delivering a complex engineering design through the full systems engineering life cycle, and the ability to apply that knowledge at a "system of systems" level.

Required Skills:
Proven experience of leading software engineering effort on complex projects, including the planning, tracking and controlling of systems project activities together with the preparation of the required systems documentation.
Disciplined and rigorous approach to requirements and design coupled with the ability to challenge the requirements and architecture of the system at each level of the hierarchy.
Working knowledge of system and software modelling tools (eg.IBM Rhapsody).
Understanding of requirements management.
Experience of estimating, planning, gathering and monitoring of metrics in a software environment.
Experience of software development including design for test, debugging techniques and software risk analysis.
The proven ability to deliver code to agreed timescales and quality levels.
Knowledge of modern software development techniques and approaches.
Experience of developing safety related software.
Management of engineering teams.

An opportunity has arisen for a Java C / C++ Software Engineer / Software Developer to join their team.

This is the ideal role for an innovative software engineer capable of solving problems and influencing new designs, looking to develop their career with a leading company.

As a Java C / C++ Software Engineer / Software Developer you will be responsible for developing software for our client's products and internal IT systems. This is a varied role covering embedded software for medical devices, desktop applications and software development for internal business applications.

Working as part of a small team of engineers, your focus will be on using Java, C or C++ to develop a wide range of applications, meeting tight deadlines.

You will also be tasked with providing 1st line support for customers, which may occasionally entail some off-site and overseas travel. In addition, you will be required to provide support for the company's IT infrastructure.

To be considered for this position, you must have proven experience of using:

- Java
- C or C++

Additionally, as a Java C / C++ Software Engineer / Software Developer you must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to troubleshoot problems for customers. You should also be a team player with a proactive approach.

Whilst any experience of using Lotus Domino or developing embedded firmware would be an advantage, it is not essential.

I am currently seeking an experienced software engineer to work on multibeam sonar equipment using high level C++ in a windows environment. This role will require a good level of mathematic ability in order to enable the candidate to implement algorithms.

My client has identified an urgent requirement for a talented Software Engineer. Initially your role will be to develop user interfaces for the Company's range of multi-beam imaging sonars.

These sonars utilise state of the art FPGA based DSP technology to produce real time subsea acoustic images. Typically the technology is used by pilots of ROVs. As a result an intuitive interface is essential for ease and safety of operation.
